Because sometimes 20 days just isn’t enough

Work-life-balance was vital for employees in 2022. They were dedicated to sticking to paid working hours, calling in sick when they need and actually taking annual leave. It’s safe to say that this won’t change as we enter 2023.

And while the usual 4 weeks off is great – we’ve got a few tips on how to work with public holidays and weekends to get the most out of your annual leave in 2023…

January

Fancy a 9 day break for only 4 days of annual leave? Australia day falls on a Thursday this year. Take off Monday 23rd – Wednesday 25th & Friday 27th for an extended break.

Or if you used up most of your annual leave over Christmas, by just using 1 annual leave day on Friday 27th you’ll score a 4-day weekend.

April

Lock in 10 days off by taking 4 days of annual leave over Easter. The Public Holidays are Friday 7th and Monday 10th. Take off either Monday 3rd – Thursday 6th or Tuesday 11th – Friday 14th and book yourself a plane ticket!

Later in April, ANZAC Day falls on Tuesday 25th so you might want to book Monday 24th as well! (pssst Queenslanders, you’re off on Monday 1st of May so taking annual leave from the 26th-28th of April will get you 10 days total)

December

And our favourite – just 3 days of annual leave between Christmas and New Years results in 10 blissful days off. You’ll want to take off Wednesday 27th – Friday 29th.

Honourable Mentions

Labour day, the Kings Birthday holiday and show days are different in every state and region but usually fall on a Monday. Take some additional time before or after for an extended break!
